Our board of directors is comprised of education professionals with diverse backgrounds and focuses.
Daniel Kelly – Mr. Kelly is a middle school technology teacher at The Franklin Academy in Wake Forest, North Carolina. The received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics and Middle and Secondary Education at the State University of New York at Potsdam. He is currently a graduate student at North Carolina State University studying Technology Education. He is the author of the book Falling Down, an account of his life as the type of teenager he now tries to help. He founded The PUSH Initiative to help at-risk youth so they may choose a different path than he did. Mr. Kelly has also served on the board of directors of several non-profits including North Country Community Health Programs and the Tri-Town Rescue Squad, Both in New York State.
Robert Caine – Mr. Caine grew up in Port Elizabeth, South Africa where he completed his teaching degree. In 1994 he graduated with honors in Cape Town. He is currently a 7th Grade Math teacher at The Franklin Academy in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He has 20 years of teaching experience, in both public school and charter school settings. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Educational Sciences and is certified in both AIG and National Boards. He has recently starting writing children’s stories for his two daughters, who are three and five years of age. He has written an integrated Math and Science module for the Museum of Natural Sciences for genetics through Math and Science which is used in their “Science in a suitcase” portable classrooms.
Deidre Kelly – Ms. Kelly serves as the Executive Specialist for the Centennial Scholars Program at North Carolina Central University. She serves on numerous committees and volunteers as the Junior Class Council Advisor. Outside of her NCCU duties, Ms. Kelly provides media consulting and freelance writing services for higher education institutions and other organizations. Ms. Kelly was employed for seven years as the acting director of public affairs at the State University of New York at Potsdam. Ms. Kelly earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Niagara University in Western New York and a Master of Public Administration degree from North Carolina Central University.
